PRAYER REQUEST
Your prayer needs are very important to us. The Prayer Line Ministry will keep you in their prayers.
WAYS TO GIVE
Your contribution to our Church will be an enduring symbol of your faith and devotion, and will benefit the St. John Baptist Church now, at its inception, and for years to come.
The marriage liturgy is a sacred celebration of Christian love in which the couples minister this sacrament to one another in the presence of the presider and community. In the marriage liturgy, presider, bride, groom, and guests are all active participants in prayer, blessing, and praise.
This aspect should be at the heart of how you plan the liturgy of marriage, including music. Marriage is celebrated in the context of worship and, therefore, should reflect the musical styles incorporated into sacramental celebrations of the Catholic Church. With this in mind, music chosen for the wedding liturgy must be religious in nature, so that a spirit of prayer and celebration can be established to strengthen the expression of faith.
Secular love songs, ballads, and show tunes are more appropriate for the reception.
A variety of musicians and musical styles are available for weddings. Options include the use of an organist, pianist, synthesizer, guitarist, and vocalists in any combination. Please contact the Director of Music for information. In order to meet your needs in the best way possible, please contact the Director of Music as soon as possible and no later than one month in advance of your wedding.
Kindly note that musicians from outside St. John the Baptist music staff are now allowed. If, under special circumstances, outside musicians are allowed, you will be charged a fee. Besides being unfamiliar with the proper timing and function that music plays liturgically within St. John the Baptist Parish, non-parish musicians do not have access to the facilities and equipment. There are times when people want a family friend or relative to participate in the music for their wedding. One suggestion would be to have that person(s) sing one “special” song and then have the cantor to the service music and other selections you have chosen.
Other
